Client Experiences
Ludovic and Arnaud…
“Molly took care of Paul and Juliette almost every night for a full month when they were born. She literally was our night savior! Molly is very organized and reliable, and clearly makes sure hygiene and safety are paramount. She also has a very sharp eye for children’s early needs and was proactive in suggesting routines to help with babies’ discomforts. She is very kind and patient with newborns: Paul clearly put her to the test! She passed with flying colors. Thank you so much Molly for being here for us in such a life- and night-changing moment for us.” Arnaud and Ludovic Subran
Bryna and Chris…
“Chris and I knew Molly would be the right person to be our doula after our first conversation. Not only did she share a similar mindset and approach about birth, but she also brought the skill sets of bodywork. I knew that physical touch was going to be important in my birth process, so having that skill set was an added bonus.
Molly is an excellent listener, and she quickly married her knowledge of the birth process with the values and desires we had for the birth of our first child. She also asked fantastic questions to get me to think about things I otherwise might not have. Our meetings, conversations and an in-home massage prior to my birth experience put me at ease that I would have a fantastic support system in my husband and Molly no matter how labor and the birth went.
Due to my labor progressing more quickly than expected in the early morning hours, Molly met us at Health Foundations the morning of our daughter’s birth. Her calm voice guided me to try different positions and explore the options available to me. She did this without ever causing me to feel as though I was being told what to do — a fine line I asked her to walk for me for sure!
Though I ended up not being able to keep food down during labor, she took care of me by continuing to offer snacks that were easy on my stomach. She also made sure water and ginger ale were always well positioned for me in between contractions so I stayed as hydrated as possible. The support I wanted most during each contraction was pressure on my lower back. Molly and my husband tag teamed all day long for this process. Molly was also always there to remind me to breathe. It is interesting that as I remember my birth experience I don’t remember consciously being reminded to breathe, I simply hear Molly’s voice encouraging my breath as I was able to tune into the breath I needed for each contraction. This is again where Molly’s demeanor is so incredibly well suited to support the birth process.
At the end of the long and beautiful day, as my husband held our daughter for the first time, Molly came over and offered me a foot massage. It was a completely unexpected gift as I began to become aware of my own body from the outside in after having been inside myself through the birth process. It was something I never would have planned or asked for, but it was a perfect transitional piece at that point in the experience.
An additional gift Molly gave us was to help fill a void COVID protocols left us with. My mom was unable to be present at the birth, as we had originally planned, because only one support and a doula were allowed with me at the time. Not only did Molly assist in managing the location of the computer for my mom’s video presence, Molly took over the role my mom would have taken on by taking a beautiful collection of snapshots and videos from the day. We also used Molly’s placenta encapsulation services. She delivered them very quickly in beautiful hand labelled bottles and was willing to answer any questions I had. I feel strongly that doing placenta encapsulation strengthened my postpartum recovery and would recommend Molly’s services to anyone. Molly kept track of so many important details of the day for us so both Chris and I could be immersed in the experience. We are so grateful to Molly that she was our doula for the birth of our daughter!”
Kelly and Ernesto…
“My partner and I chose Molly to be our doula immediately after meeting her. There was an immediate connection there by how caring, thoughtful, wise and gentle she was. I was looking for someone who was going to be hands on, and really respected my birth plan - she exceeded my expectations. From even before birth she was so involved in my pregnancy and gave me tips on ways to make me more comfortable and she even came to appointments with me when my partner couldn’t make it. I really appreciated that because that way she got to know what I was looking for during my birth and I also felt much closer with her. When it came to my birth…things went the complete opposite way of how I planned them to. My labor immediately started with my contractions being 2-3 minutes apart and were so intense, to the point I wanted pain relief after 6 hours of doing it natural. So I went to Regions Hospital straight from Health Foundations, and Molly followed along. She had picked up some fresh fruit on the way for me so I could have some energy and as soon as I got there she was all in again. Something that surprised me was how quickly I forgot about what I wanted for my birth. Even though I went from having an all natural birth to getting an epidural , she would be sure to ask me and the nurses to do things that I originally said I wanted. When they would say there were only going to reposition me every 2 hours, she came in and made sure we were doing it more than that. She told them I wanted a mirror for me to see my daughter come out while I was pushing - something I totally would have forgotten. I really appreciated those things. And although Molly is extremely gentle and kind, she is very assertive and made sure the nurses heard what I wanted - even when I forgot myself. She also reminded us all that my partner Ernesto, wanted to receive the baby when she came out, and he was able to do that. it was the most special thing! Ernesto felt supported as well and it was so nice to have her doing bodywork on me while he was able to remain up toward my face giving me love and encouragement which is something so important during birth. After my 19 hour labor, Molly still checked in on us and even came to visit Mila (my daughter) and I when we got home. I can’t imagine what my labor would have been like without Molly. She truly made it the best experience possible and she was so encouraging, I now see her as a friend and will continue to keep in contact with her.” Kelly, Mila and Ernesto
